Creating a fine balance between scrappy determination and low-key chic, Mig Macario is an accomplished actor with over three decades of experience in the entertainment industry. His professional career spans numerous Film, TV, Commercial, and Theater projects, establishing him as a versatile performer.

 

Macario gained significant recognition with his role in the Netflix film Velvet Buzzsaw, where he starred alongside actors Jake Gyllenhaal, Toni Collette, Rene Russo, Daveed Diggs and Zawe Ashton. He became widely known for his recurring role portraying the iconic Disney character, "Bashful" in the popular ABC series Once Upon a Time co-starring with Ginny Goodwin, Jennifer Morrison, Robert Carlyle and Lana Parilla.

 

His television credits include guest and recurring roles in multiple series such as Ruby Herring Mysteries, S.W.A.T., Kidding, and The Order. He's had the honor of working with esteemed directors such as Dan Gilroy, Jake Szymanski and Michel Gondry. Macario has also been featured in national commercials for major brands, including Jollibee, Lexus, VW, E*TRADE, Tostitos, and Uber Eats.

 

Macario's acting foundation began at the Vancouver Youth Theater during his teenage years. He was part of the inaugural class of the Firehall Cross-Cultural Apprenticeship program. His training is comprehensive, having studied at Upright Citizens Brigade, Jeffrey Marcus Studios, Michael D. Cohen, Groundlings, and with respected acting teacher David Rotenberg.

 

Mig has also worked as a casting associate and reader for one of Canada's busiest offices, Clark and Page Casting. Formerly an on-camera acting instructor at UCLA Extension, he brought his professional expertise to support emerging actors. His theater background includes work with Axis Mime Theater and touring Shakespeare productions with Manitoba Theater for Young People.

 

A significant career milestone was his Jessie Award nomination for his portrayal of Song Liling in David Henry Hwang's M. Butterfly. Throughout his career, Macario has worked with notable performers including Johnny Depp and Robin Williams.

 

Macario is deeply involved with his community. Volunteering during the aftermath of the LA fires and post-Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, where being fluent in Tagalog was a huge asset. He is a long-standing member of Soka Gakkai International, a Buddhist organization focused on promoting peace, culture, and education.

 

Dividing his time between Vancouver and Los Angeles, Macario continues to seek out acting roles that authentically represent the AAPI and LGBTQ+  community. His professional goal remains to create meaningful performances that tell distinct, memorable stories.
